To our Dear
Friends of Catholic Radio,
As you know, “Hail Holy
Queen Communications, Inc.”
has been trying to purchase
a local radio station to
bring Catholic radio to the
Cleveland metropolitan area.
We did not post information
on our website regarding our
actions for a good reason --
confidentiality demanded by
the seller and by us, to not
inform other purchasers
about our offer. The radio
industry is highly
competitive and until a deal
is closed secrecy is the
watchword.
We had an opportunity to
purchase a radio station and
made an “Offer to Purchase.”
Both the time to act and our
funds were limited. We were
advised that the owner had
another offer. Nevertheless,
we are continuing our
efforts to locate and
purchase a local radio
station.
This experience has taught
us that we must have
sufficient money available
to negotiate a binding
contract when the
opportunity arises. Like
purchasing any other
property, there must be a
substantial down payment. In
the radio industry, this is
normally 5% of the asking
price. Also, a buyer must
provide a contract for the
balance of payments, which
can be 90 days, or the date
of FCC approval of the
transfer of ownership.
Our goal is to have the
necessary funds for the down
payment when a station is
available. However, we must
also be in a position to
arrange for the payment of
the balance. Hopefully, at
that time we can start
broadcasting and can reach
more people to aid us in
this endeavor.
Realistically, in today’s
market the price could be as
high as $2,000.000.00. If
over 1500 Christian radio
stations have done it, we as
Catholics should be able to
do it.
We are members of the
Catholic Radio Association,
and its many valuable
resources are available to
us. A few of these include:
station acquisition,
training, engineering,
programming, and legalities.
Yet, the CRA’s most
important advice promotes
the essence of Catholic
radio and sets forth the
three steps necessary to
bring Catholic radio to any
location. These steps are:
Pray, Pray, and Pray. We
embrace this advice.
We are praying, and we
request your prayers as
well. But a cold, hard fact
remains: money is needed to
accomplish this goal. The
Board and Officers of Hail
Holy Queen Communications
are very frugal with the
donations which are received
for expenditures. All Board
members and Officers
volunteer their time,
efforts and money.
Your donations are
gratefully received. If you
know of anyone who can
provide a donation, grant or
memorial to us, please let
us know. What better way to
spread the Gospel in the
marketplace, which our
limited priesthood finds
difficult to reach. What
better way to assist our
dedicated priests who have
answered their call to be
Disciples of Christ than to
support them in these
difficult days. What a great
consolation for you to know,
that while you are living or
deceased, your generosity
and good works will be
serving our Lord and His
Church.
